Anti-oxidants and anti-aging
An antioxidant is a molecule capable of inhibiting the oxidation of other molecules.
Oxidation is a chemical reaction that transfers electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent. Oxidation reactions can producefree radicals. In turn, these radicals can start chain reactions. When the chain reaction occurs in a cell, it can cause cell damage or cell death. Although oxidation reactions are crucial for life, they can also be damaging; hence, many organisms, especially plants, maintain complex systems of multiple types of antioxidants, such as glutathione, vitamin C, and vitamin E as well as enzymes such as catalase, superoxide dismutase, and various peroxidases. Using antioxidants as part of your beauty regimen can help fight free radicals that can cause premature aging of the skin.
Acai
Acai contains more than double the daily dose of natural vitamin E which is essential for tissue regeneration. Acai’s phytosterols help reduce the erosion of the skin’s protective coating. Because it is so high in anthocyanins and phytosterols, acai helps protect connective tissue, including collagen.
